GENOVA WORLD - A THINK TANK TO PROMOTE GENOA’S GENIUS LOCI 


A think tank lab to promote Genoa and Liguria in the world, improve networking, share knowledge and spice up the city’s cultural programmes with initiatives and events from the centre to its outskirts, the true soul of local identity.

Meet Genova World, a cultural association bringing together a group of professionals, including two Ambassadors of Genoa in the World, who operate in close synergy with the local Municipality to support the "Genova" brand and its positioning – in tourism, culture, gastronomy - nationally and internationally.

Genova World originates from an idea by Luisa Puppo and Umberto Curti, marketing and training senior experts and entrepreneurs, who have decided to donate their specialist library - a collection of approximately 2,000 volumes, including publications of considerable editorial value and / or content, on the topics of tourism, food and wine and crafts – to the Municipality of Genoa. The books, which will be hosted and catalogued by the Civic Berio library, will constitute an important resource for students and professionals in the sector, both Italian and foreign, interested in the socio-economic dynamics of the Ligurian territory.

Thanks to an agreement between the Municipality and Genova World, the association will be granted 3-year free access to an equipped space in the Berio premises: the future seat of a series of on and offline activities, organized in synergy with the Municipality and with the different stakeholders working at Genoa’s valorisation, marketing and internationalization. The regional capital is in fact strongly committed to the attraction of tourist flows, businesses and talents.

Genova World’s agenda includes conferences, edutainment and training sessions, videos and webinars. The focus will be on the many facets of local identity (Genius Loci, i.e. the spirit of the place), with special emphasis on culinary heritage, quality products, traditional crafts, historical shops… Initiatives will target different segments - residents, tourists, students, researchers, adult educators, as well as business organizations and entrepreneurs - and sectors (from tourism to culture). All initiatives and programmes can also be delivered in English.

The “Outfood” project will start in mid-May. A calendar of events led by Umberto Curti according to the “gustincontri” formula – i.e. lectures enriched with guided tastings and experiential interactive activities – which will take place in a variety of cultural venues (museums, city libraries…).

The “Genoa Taster” training programme will be addressed to residents and tourists: 4 sessions, dedicated to the highlights of Genoese culinary tradition researched in the light of ethnogastronomy and food education.
